The 2022 World Cup tournament in Qatar involved 32 teams (eight groups of four). As the host nation, Qatar qualified automatically for the 2022 World Cup. The other 31 qualifiers were finalized in 2022. It was Qatar's first appearance at the World Cup. Some of the big names that missed qualifying were Italy, Colombia, Austria, Algeria, Egypt, Sweden and Norway.
The teams were allocated into eight groups of four. Here is the draw.

- Group B: England, Iran, USA, Wales
- Group C: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland
- Group D: France, Australia, Denmark, Tunisia
- Group E: Spain, Costa Rica, Germany, Japan
- Group F: Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia
- Group G: Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon
- Group H: Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea
