Qatar at the World Cup
Qatar were the host nation for the 2022 FIFA world cup, and as such automatically qualified. It was their first appearance at the World Cup. Qatar lost all three of their matches with no points. The nation thereby became the worst performing host nation in the history of the tournament (overtaking South Africa in 2010 who finished third in their group with 4 points)

2026
Qatar qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, their first appearance at the finals since hosting in 2022. They were drawn into Group B alongside Canada, Switzerland, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Qatar opened with a 1–1 draw against Switzerland, their first ever point at a World Cup, after losing all three matches as hosts in 2022. But they lost heavily to Canada and to Bosnia and Herzegovina. They finished bottom of the group with 1 point and were eliminated in the first round for the second straight time.
