Like its predecessor, Survival For the Fittest, this book, Survival from the Fittest, is more than a recipe book, it is the definitive guide to getting organised at home and cooking great meals. Developed by dietitians at the Australian Institute of Sport, this book is aimed not only at athletes but anyone who is interested in maintaining a healthy diet in a busy lifestyle. The books acknowledge the fact that busy people - especially athletes - face many pressures including long hours, fatigue and professional commitments. The results therefore are these recipes chosen and adapted to contain maximum energy value, with appropriate carbohydrate, protein and fat content. This new collection features the same kind of quick, delicious and foolproof recipes, and each is accompanied by a nutritional analysis per serve, easy cooking tips, a handy shopping list and photos and quotes from a selection of AIS athletes. Advice is offered on maintaining food variety and enjoyment while training, focusing on fuel foods and staying cool with fluids. Buy this book.
