Australian Institute of Sport
After Australia failed to win a gold medal at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, Canada, an inquiry into the poor performance was launched. This inquiry recommended that the Australian Institute of Sport be created. The AIS is Australia's main sports training institute, central to the network of regional sporting institutes and academies. The AIS is internationally renown as a world's best practice model for high performance athlete development. For more see the official Australian Institute of Sport website.
