Fitness for Sports
Every sport has a unique requirement for fitness. There is a certain level of strength, speed, and endurance. The training for each sport should also reflect these differences. Some sports will be more skill-based and the need for fitness is only minimal. Others require a high level of all-round fitness like in team sports, or maybe high levels in a particular component of fitness, such as aerobic fitness for marathon running.
We have a discussion about What are the fittest sports? looking at which sport is the most physically demanding? It might be boxing, though is it something that can even be determined? Fitness is hard to define, so it makes this often asked and debated question equally difficult to define. There are objective tests that can be done to look at the fittest sport.
Using as a base the 10 factors of athleticism, we modified and expanded the list to come up with what we believe are the most important 15 factors of success in sports.
