The Best FIFA Football Awards 2024
The Best FIFA Football Awards for 2024 is an international football award ceremony conducted by the sport's governing body FIFA. The FIFA awards are awarded based on performances over the full calendar year. Here are the awards that were presented in on 17 December 2024. A new award for 2024 is the Marta Award, for the goal of the year by a female player.
- Best Player Award (men): The 2024 winner of the FIFA best male player award was Vinícius Júnior (Brazil, Real Madrid)
- Best Player Award (women): The 2023 winner of the FIFA female best player award was Spain's Aitana Bonmati (she also won in 2023). She was also the winner of the 2024 Ballon d'Or.
- FIFA Coaches of the Year Award: The men's award went to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, who was runner-up in 2022. The women's coach of the year award went to Emma Hayes, who led the US team to Olympic gold and following a successful career leading Chelsea.
- Men's and Women's Goalkeeper of the Year: Aston Villa and Argentina keeper Emiliano Martínez was awarded the Best Men's Goalkeeper, whch he also won in 2022. US player Alyssa Naeher won the Best Women's Goalkeeper award
- FIFA Puskas Award: The award for the goal of the year (males), went to Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, for his sensational overhead kick against Everton in the Premier League in November 2023.
- FIFA Marta Award: The inaugural award for goal of the year (females) was fittingly awarded to the award's namesake, Marta, for the last of her 119 international goals, scored against Jamaica on 1 June 2024.
- Fair Play Award: This award recognizes behavior that promotes the spirit of fair play and compassion. The winner in 2024 was Internacional’s Thiago Maia, for his efforts to help people suffering in the Rio Grande do Sul region of Brazil after it was hit by devastating floods in April /May 2024.
Although not part of the FIFA Best Awards, there are two FIFA awards given annually to national teams based on international rankings.
- Team of the Year: Awarded each year to the first ranked team in the December-edition of the FIFA World Ranking. The winner in 2024 was Argentina (same as previous year)
- Mover of the Year: Awarded to the team who made the best progress up the rankings over the course of the year. The winner in 2024 was Angola.
