Which of these sports should be included into the Olympics?
Here are the archived results from a poll that ran on this site in 2012. In August 2009, the IOC voted on which two sports to add to the program in 2016 after baseball and softball were dropped after the 2008 Games. There were seven sports which were considered: golf, rugby union 7s, roller sports, karate, softball, baseball and squash. Eventually golf and rugby were the sports selected, leaving these five still lobbying for inclusion in future Games. We asked visitors to this site to vote on which of the remaining five sports should next get the nod. Which of these sports should be included into the Olympics?
Based on this poll of 477 people, roller sports was the most popular sport to be included next into the Olympic program. Visitors to this site did not agree with the IOC. Baseball, softball and squash were ultimately shortlisted with wrestling, and in September 2013 it was decided to reinstate wrestling onto the Olympic sports list. - Lawn Bowls should be included in the Olympic Games primarily because it is played in the Commonwealth Games plus it is played worldwide. (from Mark Woods, Dec 2012)

- Karate all the way it is by far one of the best practiced martial art and sport on offer!! Would be a great inclusion to the Olympics as it can show the whole world what karate really is!! THE K IS ON THE WAY!! OOOOSSHAAA
- I think Acrobatic gymnastics should be part of the 2016 Olympic s ... The gymnastics world had every other sport in the is area in the Olympics except Acrobatics. - There are way too many sports that don't get seen on tv now mainly because people don't care about them because they hold no interest. I personally believe they should be taken out of the Olympics: badmiton, canoe/kayak, handball, sailing,table tennis, cycling, rhythmic gymnastics, synchronized swimming. Please keep Golf out of the Olympics, that is even worse. Roller sports also do not belong in the Olympics. Baseball and Softball should have never been taken out of the Olympics to begin with and Karate should be added as well. (from Cathy Poston, Aug 2012)

- I have been playing softball for as long as I can remember. I really care about the sport.
