Highest Paid Women Athletes in 2011

Here are some of the top paid women athletes for 2011, taken from Forbes Magazine's list of "The 10 Highest-Paid Female Athletes". Forbes also publish a top 50 list of the 2011 Best Paid Athletes which is comprised mostly of male athletes, Maria Sharapova was the only female on this list.



The highest paid sportswoman for this year was Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova with earnings of 25 million dollars, still well behind the highest paid male athlete for the same time period golfer Tiger Woods who had combined earnings of 75 million dollars. Sharapova's earnings are largely from her lucrative Nike deal, which pays her royalties on her lines of tennis apparel and Cole Haan shoes.

Second on this list is Caroline Wozniacki with combined earnings of $12.5 million. She won $6 million in prize money and earned another $6.5 million from sponsors and appearance fees. See more lists of the World's Highest Paid Women Athletes.
