Sports Illustrated International 20
The Sports Illustrated magazine has published the International 20 list of top paid sports people since 2005. The SI Fortunate 50 lists of top paid American athletes has been published since 2004.
The rankings of the list are based earnings from salary, winnings, bonuses, endorsements and appearance fees. Sport Illustrated get their information by consulting the players' associations, tour records, agents and news reports. The salary figures are based on current or most recently completed seasons, while for winnings-based sports such as auto racing, golf and tennis they use the previous calendar year. Boxing purses are from July to June.
The Lists
We have listed and analyzed just the 'International 20' top 10 athletes for each year. No list was published in 2004, though some earning figures of international athletes were published.
