Biathlon is winter sports discipline which combines both cross-country skiing and target shooting. As you can see the competitors need to carry their guns with them, and have the added difficulty of getting composed to shoot accurately after cross-country skiing.

A competitor at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin in the snowboarding halfpipe competition. I don’t know who it is, but they do some pretty cool moves. The Japanese commentary makes it sound even cooler.

The complete race of the Women’s Snowboard Cross final at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. There are a few stacks as expected in these races, though most spectacularly is Lindsey Jacobellis falling just at the end and giving up the gold.

When I first posted this video in 2010, I was in awe of the footage of a world-class downhill skiing course from the view of the skiier. Nowadays with GoPro cameras, it is very common to get the athlete’s view of them performing their sport.
Here is the 1995 Men’s Downhill course on Whistler Mountain.

Canadian Jennifer Jones with her best curling shot, to win the 2006 Scott Tournament of Hearts. It is the last rock on the 10th end, and she needed this very difficult shot to come off to win. You don’t have to know the rules, just their response is enough to tell you that they pulled off something special.
