Stadium Australia, Sydney

Stadium Australia is a multi-purpose stadium located in the Sydney Olympic Park, in Sydney, Australia, built specifically for the Sydney Olympics. The stadium is sometimes referred to as ANZ Stadium, Sydney Olympic Stadium, Homebush Stadium, or the Olympic Stadium.



It was the main stadium of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, holding the opening and closing ceremonies, the football final and track and field events. It also is the site of the annual National Rugby League grand final.

The stadium has a capacity of 82,500 or 83,500, depending on whether it is configured for oval or rectangular sports. For the Sydney Games, its capacity was 115,000. The record attendance was 114,714 for the 2000 Olympics Closing Ceremony.
