- 2013 —LeBron James scoring 37 points to lead Miami to victory in Game 7 of the NBA finals.
- 2014 — Germany shocked Brazil 7-1 in the FIFA World Cup semi-final, then went on to beat Argentina in the final.
- 2015 — All Blacks made history as first back-to-back Rugby World Cup champions, with their record third win.
- 2016 — Leicester City, 1000-1 long shots at the start of the season, completed the most improbable sporting fairy-tale in living memory, winning the English Premier League Premiership.
- 2017 — The heart-stopping finish to the Super Bowl, the first-ever overtime with Tom Brady's historic efforts gifting him a record 5th ring.
- 2018 — The passing of Roger Bannister, the first person to run a four-minute mile.
- 2019 — The nailbiting finish the the Cricket World Cup. The scores were tied after full time, then in the tie-breaking super-over, the scores were equal again. England was awarded the championship on count-back.
- 2020 — The Chief's won the Super Bowl 32-20 in a thrilling comeback, after trailing 20-10 at half time. It was the Chief's first Super Bowl win in 50 years.
- 2021 — The new Olympic Games sports of surfing, climbing and skateboarding making a big impact.
- 2022 — At the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Katie Ledecky won a record-breaking fifth straight 800m world title, taking her tally of World Championship medals to 22.
- 2023 — Spain winning their first-ever FIFA Women's World Cup
