Jordan qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the first time the nation had ever reached the finals. They secured qualification in June 2025, with striker Ali Olwan scoring a hat-trick in a win over Oman. It was a landmark moment for a side that had come agonisingly close in the past, losing an intercontinental play-off to Uruguay for a place at the 2014 finals, and had finished runners-up at the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.

At the finals, they were drawn into Group J alongside defending champions Argentina, Austria, and Algeria. Jordan lost all three of their matches and finished bottom of the group, beaten by Austria, Algeria, and Argentina. Their debut ended winless, though they found the net in every game.
