Algeria finished second in Group H and progressed to the Round of 16 at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The Desert Foxes lost 1-2 to Germany in the Round of 16 of this competition.
2026
Algeria qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and were drawn into Group J alongside Argentina, Austria, and Jordan. After a 3–0 opening loss to 2022 FIFA World Cup winner, Argentina, Algeria beat debutants, Jordan 2–1 and then drew a thrilling 3–3 with Austria in their final group game.
That point left them third on 4 points, enough to advance as one of the eight best third-placed teams. This was the team's second time of reaching the knockout stage. In the Round of 32, they were beaten 0–2 by Switzerland.
