The UEFA Champions League is an annual football club competition played between the European national league champions and other top clubs from Europe. At the time it was called the European Champion Clubs' Cup (though commonly known as the "European Cup").
Originally only 16 teams participated in the tournament. The 1960 the tournament saw the competition expanded to 32 teams.
The final of the 1960 European Cup was played at Hampden Park, Glasgow, Scotland on May 18, 1960. The match was won by Spanish team Real Madrid again. Real Madrid won all five of the first five tournaments.
