The UEFA Champions League is an annual football competition played between top European club teams, which has been held since the 1955-56 season.
- The FIRST tournament was held in 1955-56. The first final was played at Parc des Princes, Paris, France on June 13, 1956, between Stade de Reims and Real Madrid.
- The FIRST tournament winning team was Real Madrid (they went on to win the first five tournaments)
- The FIRST time two clubs from the same country met in the final was in 2000. Two Spanish teams battled in the final, though they were from different cities.
- The FIRST final featuring teams from the same city was in 2014.
- The FIRST (and only) time a tournament final was replayed was in 1974. The first meeting between Atlético de Madrid and Bayern Munich finished in 1-1. The replay two days later, Bayern won 4-0.
- The FIRST time the tournament was called the UEFA Champions League was in 1993. Previously it was called called the European Cup or European Champions' Cup (officially the European Champion Clubs' Cup, or Coupe des Clubs Champions Européens in French).
- The FIRST (and only so far) team to win every match of the tournament was when Bayern Munich won all of their matches in the 2020 tournament.
