Golf is a very popular sport played around the world. At the elite level, there are also many important tournaments played.
The world's major golf tournaments include The Masters, held at Augusta National Golf Club; the U.S. Open, renowned for its challenging courses across the United States; The Open Championship, played on prestigious links-style courses primarily in the United Kingdom; and the PGA Championship, rotating among elite venues across America. These prestigious events, known as the majors, stand as the pinnacle of professional golf, attracting top players globally. Alongside these, the Ryder Cup, a biennial team competition between Europe and the United States, and numerous international tournaments across Asia, Europe, and Australia, contribute to the sport's diverse and captivating landscape.
Tournaments involve multiple rounds where golfers compete against each other over a set number of holes, usually 18 per round. Players aim to complete each hole in the fewest strokes possible, recording their scores on a scorecard. Tournaments can span several days, with each day comprising a round of play. The golfer with the lowest total number of strokes at the end of all rounds emerges as the tournament winner, showcasing consistency, skill, and strategy across the competition's duration.
