The Players Championship is an annual golf tournament on the PGA Tour, often considered the unofficial "fifth major."
The inaugural edition of the tournament was in 1974, won by Jack Nicklaus. It was the first of his three wins.
Since 1982 has been played at the TPC Sawgrass stadium course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, USA.
The tournament typically features one of the strongest fields in golf, with the world's top players competing for a significant purse and prestige.
