The NBA season was a few weeks from tip-off when I signed up to Alawin Sport on 28 September, so basketball is where most of my stakes went over the following seven days. Along the way I made one Ethereum deposit, one withdrawal to my ANZ account and two attempts at ID verification, and this Alawin review is built on that week. I would happily punt on the board again, but I would struggle to explain to a mate why the site refuses to say who owns it.

Under New Zealand law, TAB NZ has been the only legal provider of sports and racing betting since 28 June 2025. My findings come from a funded account I used between 28 September and 4 October, checked against Alawin’s own terms. Those terms can be changed at any time, so look at the current version before you deposit.

Alawin Sport Welcome Bonus for New Zealand Punters
The sports welcome offer is 100% up to $200, and its 6x rollover is worked out on your deposit and the bonus combined. Put in $200, take the full $200 match, and you owe $2,400 in qualifying bets within 30 days before any of it can leave the account. Singles need a price of at least 2.00, every leg of a multi has to be 1.50 or longer, a stake above $100 only counts as $100, and the counter ignores everything after your first bet on each event.
You choose the offer, or skip it, the moment you click Register. A pop-up lists six options: two sports deals (the $200 match and a crypto version paying 100% up to 200 USDT), two casino packages, a promo code line and a button for no bonus at all. I went with that last button, because I wanted every dollar of my test balance free to withdraw on day seven. My Ethereum deposit would otherwise have been eligible, as the offer only turns away deposits made through Skrill or Neteller.
Before the bonus is credited, your qualifying deposit has to be bet once on settled bets at 1.50 or better. Anyone who has looked at Millioner Sport will recognise every line of this, since the two welcome offers run on practically the same rulebook. Compared with the wider market, the 6x figure is reasonable, but the $200 ceiling feels small once you see what the reloads pay.

You don’t type a code anywhere, since ticking the sport option in that opening pop-up is the whole claim. The one way to lose the offer by accident is to request a withdrawal before the bonus has landed, which voids it on the spot. The promo code line in the same pop-up is meant for people carrying a code from a different campaign.
Other Alawin Bonuses in NZ
Each of the two weekly reloads can be worth six times the welcome match, and the rest of the promotions page fills the gaps between them with cashback and multi boosts. The small print attached to every deal decides how much of it you can actually withdraw, and our guide to betting bonuses in New Zealand is a handy benchmark if you want to compare. These sports offers were live during my test:
- Crypto Welcome Bonus — the USDT twin of the main offer, matching 100% up to 200 USDT.
- Weekly Reload — half of a Monday to Thursday deposit added on top, to a maximum of $1,200.
- Weekend Reload — the same 50% up to $1,200, but for deposits made between Friday and Sunday.
- Cashback — a tenth of the week’s net sports losses returned, capped at $1,000, if you opt in that week.
- Accumulator Boost — a percentage added to winning multis of three legs or more where each pick is 1.40 or longer.
- Early Payout — your pre-match 1X2 pick settles as a winner the moment it leads by two goals, whatever happens next.
- Bet Builder Risk-Free — half of a losing build covered up to $100, on stakes from $40 at odds of 1.70 or more.
Nearly every card on the promotions page carries a Sport tag, from the $200 match through to the $100,000 Early Payout pool.
Specials and Boosted Odds
The boosts live on a filter just under the featured matches, alongside a Prebuilds tab of ready-made Bet Builder slips. Each one shows the old price struck through, which makes it easy to judge whether the lift is worth having. A France vs Belgium Super Boost jumped from 2.00 to 2.52 for France to win with Michael Olise landing two or more shots on target, and a goals-plus-both-teams-to-score combo on Ukraine vs Hungary rose from 2.00 to 2.20. Almost all of them were Nations League or Euroleague builds, so a Kiwi punter will usually find them at breakfast rather than in the evening.
Loyalty runs through a VIP ladder with five rungs. Round-the-clock chat and on-site promotions arrive at level one, while personalised offers, higher withdrawal limits and cashback wait at level three, and a dedicated VIP manager appears at level four. Under the bet slip, a Top Bets panel quotes its stakes and winnings in Polish złoty, which suggests the same software runs sites in several countries.
Alawin Sportsbook: Sports and Markets
Basketball took most of my stakes, with Nations League football and a look at the rugby and cricket menus in between. This is how each part of the board held up under a week of regular use.
Sports and Leagues
About 30 sports are listed, and a New Zealand punter will spot the essentials quickly: Rugby Union, Rugby League, cricket and Aussie Rules all have their own sections. The international staples are there too (football, basketball, tennis, ice hockey, baseball and American football), followed by a long tail of darts, snooker, boxing, martial arts, golf, Formula 1, handball, table tennis, floorball, politics and entertainment. E-sports fans get Counter-Strike, Dota 2, League of Legends and Valorant, and there is a Virtual Sports area for anyone who can’t wait for a real fixture. For more on the code I spent most time with, see our NBA betting guide.
Types of Bets
I rarely opened a game with fewer than 25 options. The menu is built around Money Line (1X2), totals, both teams to score and Asian spreads, and the Bet Builder adds player and game specials on top. Singles, multis and system bets all go through the same slip. The Help Centre gives the minimum stake as $0.20 while the T&C say 1 EUR, so expect the occasional market to ask for slightly more.
Live Markets
Live betting in Alawin is reached through the In Play button, and on my busiest check it was running about 130 events at once. Tennis, e-football and table tennis filled most of that list, with baseball, basketball, football and Counter-Strike making up the rest. It was enough to keep a weeknight interesting, even if the NBA games I really wanted were still weeks away.
Bet Builder
Same-game slips are simple to put together, and if you are short on ideas, the Prebuilds tab hands you finished combinations to edit. The weekly risk-free promotion only applies to builds. A booking code box above the slip also lets you load a bet someone has shared with you in one step.
Is Cash Out Available?
Yes, but an algorithm only puts a cash out offer on bets that still have a decent chance of winning, and it can refuse a request if the market is closed at the time. It works for banking part of a winner, not as a guaranteed exit from a losing bet.
Odds Boosts
The boosted list changes often and favours European football and basketball builds. Everyday pricing is middle of the road. My NBA prices were okay without being special, and the 1X2 markets I checked carried a margin of roughly 5.5% to 6%, which is neither generous nor greedy. You can switch the display between decimal, fractional and American odds.
Live Streaming
No. The Help Centre confirms the sportsbook offers no streaming. I didn’t come across a single playable stream on desktop, Android or iOS. If you like to watch the action in the same window as your bet slip, look elsewhere.
Is There a Casino Too?
Yes, with pokies, live dealer games and jackpots, backed by a casino welcome package of 300% up to $4,000 and 300 free spins. On my phone, a few of the games dragged when loading in a way the sportsbook never did. The bigger change ahead is legal: New Zealand’s Online Casino Gambling Act 2026 opens a licensed online casino market on 1 December 2026, and our guide to the best online casinos in New Zealand will reflect which sites make the cut.
Is Alawin Legal in New Zealand?
Nothing stopped me reaching Alawin in New Zealand, as there was no geo-block and I never needed a VPN. Amendments to the Racing Industry Act 2020 made TAB NZ the only operator permitted to offer online sports and racing betting to people here, with effect from 28 June 2025, extending a monopoly that previously covered retail betting.
The law applies to offshore bookmakers wherever they are registered. The Department of Internal Affairs is responsible for enforcement and has written to overseas operators directing them to stop serving New Zealand, close local accounts and hand back customer balances. Every obligation in that process falls on the bookmaker rather than the punter, so you are not committing an offence by holding an account. What you lose is any New Zealand authority to complain to if a withdrawal is held up.
Alawin’s T&C, Privacy Notice, About Us page and footer name no company, no licence and no regulator. When I searched outside the site, I found scraps of information that disagreed with each other, which left me unsure who was holding my $40. The terms run almost line for line with Millioner Sport’s, so a shared platform seems likely, but that is a guess, not a disclosure.
The Online Casino Gambling Act 2026 came into force on 1 May 2026 and creates a licensing system for online casinos, with the DIA issuing up to 15 licences ahead of a market launch on 1 December 2026. Sports and racing betting are not part of it, and they remain TAB NZ territory.
The minimum age for betting in New Zealand is 18, while entry to a physical casino requires you to be 20. To see the alternatives laid out side by side, start with our best New Zealand sportsbook page or browse our full set of sportsbook reviews.
Casual punters in New Zealand keep their winnings in full with nothing to declare. The position changes if betting is effectively your business, in which case the profits may count as income, and Inland Revenue sets out how that is judged. Treat this as general information and talk to an accountant about your own situation.
Payment Methods in Alawin
Card, Skrill, Neteller and MiFinity cover the familiar options, and the payment methods in Alawin then stretch to more than a dozen cryptocurrencies, each with its own limits shown up front. I paid in with Ethereum and took money out by bank transfer to ANZ without being charged at either end. The first time I opened the public payments page for New Zealand and NZD, it came up blank, and the list only appeared after a reload. Our payment methods guide covers how these options generally work from New Zealand.
About a minute passed between sending $40 in Ethereum and seeing it in my balance. Alawin says most deposits are instant but allows up to two hours. MiFinity has the lowest floor at $20 (maximum $4,000), cards accept $25 to $4,000, and Skrill and Neteller take $25 to $9,800. Bitcoin needs at least $60 and allows up to $10,000, while the rest of the crypto list, from USDT and USDC to Ethereum, Litecoin, Solana, DOGE and Cardano, runs from $25 to $9,800. If you want the welcome bonus, steer clear of Skrill and Neteller.
Mine took four days from request to ANZ, which is inside what the terms allow. Alawin gives itself up to three business days (Monday to Friday) to process a payout, and bank transfers can add three to five business days on top. The minimum is $50 for every method, and the maximums are $6,000 for cards, $4,000 for MiFinity and $9,800 for bank transfer, Skrill and crypto. Overall limits rise with VIP status, from $1,000 a day and $13,000 a month at level one to $3,000 a day and $35,000 a month at level five.
I paid nothing in either direction, and ANZ didn’t add a charge either, though your own bank may behave differently. Watch for one clause, however. If you withdraw a deposit you haven’t bet through at least once, Alawin can deduct 10%, or 15% if the money arrived by card or bank transfer.
Once it loaded properly, the NZD cashier listed a limit beside every method, with MiFinity the cheapest way in at $20.
How to Register at Alawin from New Zealand
Filling in the forms took me about a minute, and nothing in them caused trouble. After the bonus pop-up, page one of the registration wants only an email address and a password, plus a tick confirming you are at least 18 and accept the terms and privacy notice. A separate box asks permission to send you promotions, and the account works perfectly well if you leave it empty. Page two covers your first and last name, date of birth, sex and country.
My first photo of my ID came back as too unclear to accept, which meant shooting it again, and the second upload was approved about 24 hours later. Take the photo in daylight with the whole card in frame, and do it straight after signing up, because the cashier stays locked to withdrawals until your documents clear.
Customer Support at Alawin NZ
Alawin NZ offers three support channels, and the Help Centre was the one I used most:
- Help Centre — the standout, with plain explanations of rollover, verification, payment times and sportsbook rules that solved most of my questions on the spot.
- Live chat — a bot greets you first, and asking for a human gets your conversation passed to an agent.
- Email — support@alawin.com handles everyday queries and documents, while complaints@alawin.com is reserved for formal complaints.
The bot answered little itself, but it handed me to a real agent as soon as I asked, and the conversation improved from there. If your question is about bonus terms or how long a payout takes, the Help Centre will probably answer it faster than any queue. None of the channels tells you the name of the business you are dealing with.
Is There an Alawin App?
Searching the App Store or Google Play for Alawin turns up nothing, because the brand hasn’t released a native app for iPhone or Android. Everything happens through your phone’s web browser.
My Android phone and my iPhone both coped well for nearly the whole week. Markets opened quickly, live odds ticked over without a manual refresh, and placing a bet felt no clumsier than on a laptop. The only slow spots were in the casino, where a handful of games kept me waiting before they would load.
Using the browser means going without notifications when a bet settles or a price moves, and without any deals that bookmakers sometimes keep for app users.
Struck-through prices show exactly what each boost adds, with the booking code field and Top Bets panel beside the empty slip.
Responsible Gambling
There is no deposit limit, no loss limit and no session timer in the account, because none of those tools has been built. To self-exclude, you have to email support@alawin.com and wait for a staff member to process it, which is a poor arrangement for a decision that sometimes has to happen immediately.
Links to GamCare, Gamblers Anonymous and Gambling Therapy appear on the site, though all three are aimed at audiences overseas. Any limit has to be one you set and keep yourself. Settle on a weekly amount before you deposit, count it as spent once it is in, and take a break when a losing run starts to sting. Trying to win back what you have lost is usually where a hobby turns into a problem, and it can creep up quietly.

How Alawin Compares for New Zealand Punters
Only TAB NZ can lawfully accept a sports or racing bet from someone in New Zealand. TAB NZ is therefore the main benchmark, alongside the local names readers still bring up with us, such as Betcha.

Measured purely as a place to bet, Alawin offers more sports, more options per game and a far busier promotions calendar, with a casino attached for good measure. Set it beside Millioner Sport and you will struggle to tell them apart on bonuses or banking. The gap opens up on protection, where TAB NZ gives you spending limits you control, an exclusion scheme that actually binds, a known licence holder, a New Zealand complaints route and turnover that flows back into local racing and sport.
What Other Punters Say About Alawin
Trustpilot has several listings using the Alawin name, yet they are attached to domains with no obvious link to the brand and advertise different bonuses in their titles. Most sit between two and a half and three stars on a modest number of reviews, so I would give more weight to comments describing withdrawals than to the overall score.
This is aged platform. So is quite trustworthy. I’ve played 3 times. Till now everything is fine
Goru Butersson on August 2026 (Trustpilot)
Overall a decent casino good games, fast withdrawals, and the crypto support is handy. But I did some digging and found out their Safety Index is only 5.7. That’s below average…

Alawin FAQs
Am I breaking the law by betting with Alawin from New Zealand?
No. The rules that took effect on 28 June 2025 make TAB NZ the only legal provider of sports and racing betting here, and the obligations sit with offshore operators, not with punters. However, the Department of Internal Affairs has told sites like Alawin to stop serving New Zealand, so there is no local body to turn to if something goes wrong.
Who runs Alawin?
Alawin doesn’t say. No company name, licence number or regulator appears in its terms, privacy notice, About Us page or footer, and outside sources are patchy and contradictory. Its terms closely resemble Millioner Sport’s, but that doesn’t identify the owner.
How quickly will I get my winnings?
Allow up to three business days for Alawin to process the request, then up to five more for a bank transfer to clear. My own withdrawal reached ANZ in four days. Complete verification early, because unverified accounts can’t withdraw.
Can I deposit with crypto?
Yes, and it was the quickest method I tried, with my Ethereum deposit credited in about a minute. Alawin accepts Bitcoin from $60 and a long list of other coins and stablecoins from $25, and crypto deposits still qualify for the welcome bonus.
Can I set a deposit limit on my Alawin account?
No. The account has no deposit, loss or time limit settings, and self-exclusion is only available by contacting support. If you need help sticking to a budget, Gambling Helpline Aotearoa is free on 0800 654 655.
Will I be taxed on my betting winnings?
Recreational punters in New Zealand aren’t taxed on winnings. Someone who bets as a business may be, so check with Inland Revenue or an accountant if that could describe you.
Is the Alawin welcome bonus the same as Millioner’s?
Very nearly. Both match 100% up to $200 with a $40 minimum deposit, a 6x rollover on deposit plus bonus, the same minimum odds and a 30-day deadline. Neither needs a promo code, as you simply select the sports offer when you register.
