Highest Paid Women Athletes in 2010

Here is the list of the top paid women athletes for 2010, taken from Forbes Magazine's 2010 Best Paid Athletes list. Earnings estimates (US dollars) are for June 2009 to June 2010. Totals include salaries, bonuses, prize money, endorsements and appearance fees.



The highest paid sportswoman for this year was Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova with earnings of 24.5 million dollars, well less than the highest paid male athlete Tiger Woods who had combined earnings four times as much of 105 million dollars in 2010. According to Forbes, Sharapova's tennis tournament earnings during this period earned only $1 million - the rest of her fortune came from endorsement contracts and advertising.
