The annual Matlock Raft Race is held along the River Derwent in Matlock, Derbyshire UK, on Boxing Day (26th December). The event is organized by the Derbyshire Association of Sub Aqua Clubs. The 2015 event will be the 53rd raft race to be held at Matlock.
It is a fun race down the River Derwent, with teams building and decorating rafts of all types, and getting dressed up themselves. Lots of flour bombs and water bombs are thrown at spectators and vice-versa. The race starts at about 10am from Cawdor Quarry in Matlock, and the finish line is at Cromford Meadows.
It is free to watch, and lots of fun too, and as a bonus the event raises money for local charities.
