Iraq have qualified for the World Cup twice, in 1986 and 2026. They did not progress past the group stage in 1986.

1986

Iraq didn't make it out of Group B at the 1986 FIFA World Cup.

2026

Iraq qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, their first appearance at the finals in 40 years since 1986. They were drawn into Group I alongside France, Senegal, and Norway.

Iraq lost all three of their matches and finished bottom of the group, beaten by Norway, France, and Senegal. Their return ended winless, leaving them still searching for a first ever World Cup victory across both their appearances.
