Indonesia, competing as the Dutch East Indies, competed at the 1938 World Cup. It was the only time that Indonesia has competed at the World Cup. They finished in 15th position.

- Indonesia was the first Asian country to appear in the World Cup finals, competing as the Dutch East Indies in 1938.
- Indonesia is one of several teams that have been banned from participating at the World Cup. For the 2018 tournament, Indonesia were banned before playing a single qualifying match, as punishment for government interference in the Football Association of Indonesia.
