The 2024 Tour de France was the 111th event held. The Grand Départ took place in Florence, Italy on 29 June, for the first time in Italy. The final stage was an individual time trial from Monaco to Nice on 21 July. The race featured 21 stages and covered a total distance of approximately 3,500 kilometers (2,175 miles)
The details of the event have been modified to account for preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The final stage was moved from the Paris region for the first time ever, with a time trial to be held in Nice to avoid a clash with preparations in Paris for the Olympic Games.
Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogačar of UAE Team Emirates emerged as the overall winner, securing his third Tour de France victory. Pogačar took the yellow jersey after a commanding performance in the first mountain stage in the Alps and maintained his lead through consistent and strong performances in the subsequent stages, including the individual time trials. He finished the race with a lead of 2 minutes and 43 seconds ahead of Danish cyclist Jonas Vingegaard of Team Jumbo-Visma, who placed second. Belgium rider Remco Evenepoel completed the podium in third place.
