Gibraltar is UK overseas territory, and as such athletes from this region could potentially compete as part of the Great Britain team. Only one athlete from Gibraltar is known to have competed at the Olympics, rhythmic gymnast Georgina Cassar competed for Great Britain in London 2012.
The Gibraltarian Olympic Committee (GOC) has applied to be recognized by the IOC on numerous occasions, but is waiting for recognition. Gibraltar has sent teams to the Commonwealth Games since 1958, and has participated in the Island Games.
