Winter Paralympic Games Sports - changes over time
At the first winter Paralympics in 1976, there was just two sports. Alpine skiing and cross-country skiing have been on the program ever since. At the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympics there will be six sports.
There have also been many changes in events for these sports, plus changes to the disabilities and classifications that complete in these sports. Para-snowboarding added in 2014 as a part of alpine skiing, it became a separate sports category for 2018. Bobsled was expected to be added for 2026, but did not make the cut.
