2023 Baseball World Classic
The 5th Baseball World Classic was to be held March 9 to 23, 2021. However, the event was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, and has been rescheduled to be played in 2023.
There was 20 teams expected to participate, four more than the previous event in 2017. The USA are the defending champions from 2017. As in previous years, there was multiple host countries: Japan, Taiwan and United States.
The 16 national teams which participated at the 2017 World Baseball Classic will automatically qualify for the next tournament. A qualifying tournament will be held to determine the final four teams.
