Order of Exercises

Research and experience has shown that for best results in the gym, there is a particular order of exercises that you should follow. This is just a guide - there is some flexibility in this list. The most important thing is to leave the abdominal exercises for near the end of a session, as you need those muscles to be fresh to help stabilize your body while working the other muscle groups. Pre-fatigue abdominals will make those exercises less effective and increase your risk of injury.

Exercise Order

  1. Hips and Lower Back
  2. Legs (quadriceps, hamstrings, calves)
  3. Torso (shoulders, chest, back)
  4. Arms (forearms, triceps, biceps)
  5. Abdominals
  6. Neck
