We are compiling a list of the greatest athletes from the sport of cricket, which will then be voted on and the winner placed on the shortlist of the all-time-greatest athlete ever (all sports). Is the greatest ever cricketer on top of the Wisden 100 Best Performances List?
We will look at only Test cricket results as other forms of the game have only recently become popular and it would not be fair to compare cricketers of the past with player results in one day cricket matches.
List of All-Time Great Players
In 2001 and 2002, Wisden released lists of the top 100 test and one-day performances. From that rating system, they compiled these all-time lists of the greatest players. The ratings were calculated by scoring each individual batting and bowling performance in various criteria, including taking into account the strength of the opposition players, the quality of the pitch, the result of the match, and the player's contribution to this result.

No one came close to Bradman at the time he played - even greats like Hammond and Hutton averaged no more than 60. Today the greats like Sachin and Ricky Ponting average a little over 50, so maybe it's a bit tougher today - but nothing that explains how Bradman could average nearly 100 in Tests, and over 90 in all competitions, and score so fast. Not even close, Bradman is the greatest, and we'll never see his like again. - Masiviwe Sishwali David (2015)

Why Bradman in the list? Most of the laws were more batsman friendly in his era for example LBW. He never played against quality spinners on Turning pitches,he never played against the Great WI bowlers,no technology to find the flaws in batsman, never played against SA,NZ,SL,IND in their respective homes.Played more frequently against ENG,it is like Mumbai VS Tamil Nadu in Ranji Trophy and even these teams hardly face atleast twice in a year.We should consider his stats under first class cricket. He is not even the greatest AUS cricketer, Waugh Bro's,Punter,Gilly,Hayden are quite ahead of Bradman. And please dont compare him with other all time greats - Steve vivek (2013)
You clearly no nothing about cricket vivek/rahul. Sachin, Dravid,Ponting Clarke,Kallis,Viv Richards,Greg Chappell etc were all great players and all averaged around 50, in fact so did a lot of players around Bradmans era and that's the point they averaged 50. Every 2nd time Bradman went out to bat he scored 100 in fact his average of 99.94 suggests it happened nearly every innings............so I ask you gentlemen if you needed to choose a batsmen because your life was on the line I'm sure Bradman would be your pick.
Yes as suggested above those players were great, however Bradman was a freak. - Roshan Philip Romichan Steve (2014)

What do you mean he never played against quality spinners on turning wickets? How about these for quality spinners: Grimmet, O'Rielly, Laker, Verity. In terms of pace bowling how about facing these guys? Miller, Larwood, Lindwall, Bedser. All of these guys are great, great bowlers. Not only that, but he did indeed play on turning wickets. MCG 1937 in the 3rd innings, on a wet wicket which was turning square and the ball was bouncing dangerously, 270. Headingley 1948, chasing 400+ on the last day on a pitch that was starting to turn against Jim Laker, 173*. As for his first class stats, avg of 95, 28 000+ runs, 117 centuries in 234 games, most first class double hundreds, most first class triple hundreds, held the record for highest first class score for many years. What more can I say? Ponting, the Waugh's, Hayden and Gilchrist are very, very good, even great. But they don't hold a torch to the Don. - Anupam Alex (2014)
O'Reilly and grimmet played for Australia and he didn't play quality spinners on a spinning track or fast bowlers on a green top - Davo vivek (2017)
Bradman will always be the greatest he was a freak and would destroy any bowling attack after him - Virat (2013)
To start off with, everyone seems to be bringing up the other formats of the game without realising that this is a list for the top TEST Batsmen and Bowlers. One cannot be overly critical of the Don, when considering that he played in the era of uncovered wickets, which as a result boasted many bowler-friendly green decks. Moreover, if people do believe that Sachin had more aggression in comparison to Bradman since he has played ODIs and T20s, we have clearly forgotten that the Don did score over 300 runs in one day of a test. I highly doubt that any batsman in world cricket today, has the concentration, aggression and tenacity to achieve this feat. However we cannot deny that Bradman and Tendulkar are both in a class of their own, despite Sachin struggling to score at the moment. After all, Bradman on top of being an excellent Batsman was a world-class captain, something Tendulkar could never handle. Bradman will have a legendary average of 99.94 and Sachin will leave an impressive legacy as the first and probably the only batsman for a long time to score 100 international hundreds. We should probably stop arguing and start saluting them for their efforts to the game, their countries and helping to inspire many young cricketers around the globe. - Goldenhorde (2013)
Sir Viv was better than Sachin............. - Kai (2013)
Shane warne is the best he is unstoppable and always will be - Rahul sarkar (2013)
Sachin & dravid must be listed top 2 all time test batsman ... dravid must be ahead of all bcoz he was the genuine test batsman.he has the ability to go a long way & to lead the team from the front ... he is the role model for growing young test cricters.. dhoni, sehwag & sachin also be in top 5 odi batsman.. i think dhoni is the best of all in ODIs ... he is the best finisher of the world ... though bradman have a jealousy test average he is not a top class batsman ... if dravid or laxman was in the place of bradman they both will maintain an average of 200+ in tests ... so if bradman is not listed in top list it'll not be a matter ... top test batsman lists may be these. 1.dravid 2.sachin 3.kallis 4.lara 5.ponting and ODI batsman lists may be 1.sachin 2.dhoni 3.jaysuriya 4.ganguly 5.sehwag - Jake Rahul sarkar (2013)
This has got to be a joke... - A true cricket fan (2014)
I don't see how you can compare 52 test matches with 200 test matches.....also, there are lots of flaws being made about the little master. BBC Articles like "world's 29th batsman" are just focused on his flaws. But trust me.....it's because and only because he truly is on the top when it comes to batting! No matter if its bradman, Lara, ponting or anyone else.....the first person you would want to compare them with is sachin. Why? Cuz he's the best ever! Have you ever seen a comparison like Lara vs bradman? No. Why? Because he doesn't have the awesome records like most runs. Also, in ODI! TAKE A BOW MASTER!! - Mukesh (2013)
The legend will be legend like in football pele is legend, in hockey Major Dhyanchand is Legend like that in cricket Sir Bradmen is Legend, Sachin, Ricky, Sir vivn Richard learn from Sir Bradman how to play cricket he was inspiration to them he teached to world how to play cricket, records doesn't matter
sachin will be a good cricketer aur any one like Gavaskar Sir Gary, Sir Michael Holding, Jacque Kallis any one but no comparison with Sir Boardman He will Legend for any time
This is Mukesh I m Indian and biggest fan of sachin but fact is fact - Sumesh (2013)
1.sunil gavasker 2.brian lara 3.viv Richards 4.Don Bradman 5.Rahul Dravid. sachin is the best one day batsman everseen........jac Kallis equals dravid in many aspects, but rahul is more equally reliable against both spinners and pacers, - Lahiru Bandara (2013)
Where's Aravinda ? He must be listed.... - Prayash ojha (2013)
why no ponting? sachin doesn't deserve rank 2. warne should deserve rank 1 - A Khan Da Mib prayash ojha (2014)
Man you are absolutely right - Nav (2013)
Rahul Dravid always top the list...... - DMax (2020)
Man, in Bradman's time they played on uncovered pitches (wet dangerous wickets guys like Ponting, Tendulkar etc have never had to experience anything like it), also no helmets, very poor protection equipment, small bats (that's a really big one of course you can make heaps more runs when the mass of the bat is bigger) bowlers were every bit as quick as they are today, no leg side rule, no minimum number of bouncers, much larger fields (no ropes a boundary had to go all the way to the actual boundary) etc ect etc. My view all averages after about 1990 are massively inflated guys like Tandulka and Ponting are so overrated its just silly, its not even clear if those guys would have made it to the top level if they didn't have large bats, restrictions on bowler aggression, massive amounts of protective gear, flat wickets etc etc. - Dr Anwaruddin Choudhury (2017)
Bradman played at a time when helmet was unheard of. The quality of gloves, pad and other protective gears were of very poor quality compared to today. - Saikumar Vytla (2016)

Not one great bowlers of Windies in top 5 is a disgrace. - Mandar (2014)
There cannot be a comprehensive list to sum up the rankings of such a talented lot, no matter Wisden or whoever else attempts it. Playing conditions, oppositions, team crisis and many more aspects are crucial for deeming greatness to a player. Personally feel players of altogether different eras cannot be compared. - Bernie (2014)
I have read most comments on this site and all have legitimate reasons for there best players of all time but I think the don was great for his era spaning 25 years of first class cricket but the modern professional era is the one that needs to be taken seriously. Stuff uncovered wickets etc. Since the 80s when the game started the professional era these cricketers were the ones that faced the fastest bowlers the best spinners and had a livelihood totally dependent on there performances on all types of wickets, subcontinent turners, gabba reversed swinging dangerous wickets, glass top windies wickets and the green tops of England and NZ. I think the modern day players from this time onwards should be looked at differently to the freakish performances of semi pro cricketers. The best cricketers are as follows, Desmond Haynes,Matt Hayden,Hashim Amla,Sachin Tendulkar, Stephen Waugh (C), Adam Gilchrist, Jacques Kallis, Shane Warne, Mal Marshall, Glenn McGrath. Curtley Ambrose 12th man Wasim Akram. Who or which team could beat these guys? - Mukesh chaturvedi (2014)

Now you have to consider sangakkara also. Let him finish his test career and he will secure his place among all time greats. - Benjamin Pierce (2013)
What about Adam Gildcrist or MS Doihi - Bradman is the best by far because he has an average of 99.4 and if he batted at 3 or 4 he would get more runs. I don't get why people vote for sachin (from rilezz, Apr 2013)
- Sachin is the best. bcz he has faced not only the world class pace attack like wasim akram, waqar younis, shoaib akhtar, brett lee,Glen Mcgrath, dolland and so many pace legend as well as world class spiners. (from ranjay kumar, Apr 2013)
- The age differencies are enough to stop this augument one in the prime of life the other considered an old man 48 yrs is last game and all the conditions protection-bats-surfaces of ground both great but the don best (from arch angus, Mar 2013)
- Andy Ganteaume is the best test batsman world has ever seen. His epic book "My Story: The Other Side of the Coin" tells it all. His average was far better than Bradman's. He was dropped from the side to accommodate Goddards return to test side. Andy had a full time job, he played cricket for pleasure. Practiced very little. Bradman, in the other hand was a consummate cricketer, practiced 6 years during the world war when others went to war. If only West Indian cricket has a man like Andy now...He is still alive, at 93 years, still is the best batsman in Caribbean even now...Lets agitate to get him back. (from Aravinda, Mar 2013)
- Crazy Indian biased comments here. Why don't we add Greg Ritchie and John Stimper from the Bankstown Bandits to best batsman list? Seriously, how anyone with a dose of sanity can claim that anyone (even your precious Sachin) is anywhere near as good as Bradman, is totally ridiculous. (from Matt, Mar 2013)
- Everyone is talking about only Bradman and Sachin but i think the greatest cricket player the world has ever produced is Sir Gary Sobers. he was an all rounder. think differently, truth is always truth, i am an indian but i dont think sachin is best player india has produced, sachin genius but he is not a champion cricketer, in inida thats kapil dev. if u ask me to pick my top 5 players in the world then i will include Wasim Akram in my list . we talk about only batmen not about bowlers. i think he is genius than sachin . i am an indian but i am a real cricket fan (from milton, Feb 2013)
- Brian Lara. Gary Sobers Sunil Gavaskar, Wasim Akram, Ricky Ponting? (from Shakil, Feb 2013)
- Why hashim amla is not in the list of best batsman? (from farid ahmed achkzai, Feb 2013)
- I think so we can't compare anyone because each one is different. (from Dhaval, Feb 2013)
- Too many biased Indian comments on here to be taken seriously... Thos guys that honestly think Sachin is better than Bradman needs to have your heads examined. Sachin spent most his life on flat dry wickets... The don on grassy UNCOVERED wickets. There's NO WAY sachin is as good as Bradman. Sachin isn't even as good as Kallis and Ponting when you consider the wickets in Aus and SA. (from Werner, Feb 2013)
- I think wasim akram should also be i the list of bowlerd (from hamza, Feb 2013)
- Why sunil gavaskar is not listed? He is definiltely greatest opening batsman and one of the all time greats (from SSS, Nov 2012 ... SUNIL MANOHAR GAVASKAR THE TREND SETTER AND BEST OPENING BATSMAN THE WORLD HAS EVER PRODUCED ... WHO SCORED 13 CENTURIES AGAINS "FIRES OF BABYLONE - HOLDINGS, ROBERTS, GARNER, MARSHALL." IF YOU CONSIDER THESE FAST BOWLERS ARE THE BEST THEN IT IS SUNIL WHO STOOD LIKE A CHINA WALL IN FRONT OF THEM.. TALK ABLOUT LILEE, IMRAN, HADLEE.. ALL HAVE BOWLED AGAINST SUNNY AD BEING WELL TREATED. (from SSS, Jan 2013)
- How can anyone forget about Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden the best oppeing pair in the cricket history (from Saini, Jan 2013)
- There is no comparison between sachin and sir don they both are legendary players. (from saksham, Jan 2013)
- Of course ... IT has to be Jaques Kallis..He is complete Cricketer
- Sachin sachin sachin sachin s the best ever he lyk michael jackson of cricket the best entertainer ever. All hail god sachin (from Tebza, Jan 2013)
- Today we have small grounds, smooth fast outfields, helmets, body padding, bats with big sweet spots, covered pitches, sounds like a batsmens paradise to me so while sachin is very good and consistent i cant see why on these good pitches he has made relatvely few big scores, lara is the better bat in my opinion during this era, who in a side with good bowling may have won many games with the number of big scores he made under pressure, bradman however different era, rough uncovered pitches, rough slow outfields on bigger grounds, tinny bats with little to no sweetspot,no helmets, no body pading, sounds like a bowlers paradise to me, i think even lara and tendulkar would admit they have it easy with regard to cricket condintions, afterall today easier conditions have more than likely helped allow modern players to play so many games angainst so many different players, bradman has to be number one, the conditions today simply dont allow enough adversity to produce a player so far above the other players of their time (from greggy, Jan 2013)
- Oh god, what a fake list it is ... Ponting only man to be three time test batsman of the year, 2 times cricket of the year, 1 time odi player of the year.. Is n0t in top 5.. He deserves to be n0. 1 (from Richard, Jan 2013)
- Sachin scored many centries but i think he is not match winner miandad is a real match winer and he always played under pressure and pakistan got so many victories due to his bating. (from imran, Jan 2013)
- Rahul Dravid Is the one of the world best batsmen cricket has ever seen he should be on the top of the list rem..sachin made debut in 1989 & dravid in 1996 yet he i on the 3 highest run getter. (from Sanjay, Jan 2013)
- This is ridiculous. Sachin is clearly better than Bradman. He's had it much harder with covered pitches, shorter boundaries, faster outfields, bigger bats, better protection and no body line series. Cricket is much harder for the batsman now, that's why batting averages are so much worse than they were in Bradman's time. (from The logical opinion., Jan 2013)
- I am shocked to see Rahul Dravid's name on the list of the greatest test batsmen but now i am admired him more. (from Piyush, Jan 2013)
- Surprisngly no sehwag in the list .he is a match winner. He scored fastest triple century
- Why shoaib akhtar is not in the list. he is don of cricket (from mehdi, Jan 2013)
- The contents of this article relate to Test cricket only and I do not understand why comments on ODI listings should be debated here. While Kallis, Ponting, Lara, Sachin & Dravid have been great test players and would definitely be in the top 10 of all time greats that include Don Bradman & Viv Richards, don't forget Don Bradman in just 52 tests scored 29 centuries, 10 double hundreds and 2 triple hundreds over a career of 20 years. In between there was no cricket played for 6 years because of the 2nd world war and after that break he comes back in the same form and scored very heavily. I don't think players of the modern era should even be compared to the great DON BRADMAN. However, Sachin too has had a career span of over 20 years but I would actually rate Brian Lara a better test match player as he had the capacity to stay at the wickets for very long periods in a test match and get scores of 375 & 400! Such heavy scoring is once in a life time achievement but Lara did it twice!! (from Terence, Dec 2012)
- Rahul Dravid is the most elegant, stylish, technically perfect right handed test batsman the world has ever seen to date.{ RAHUL DRAVID {THE GREAT WALL OF INDIA } (from UMESH, Dec 2012)
- Dude..i dont ve doubt in batsman list ... where is wasim akram, greatest bowler in the era (from Rahman, Dec 2012)
- I think Rahul Dravid is the best (from Avisek Rath, Dec 2012)
- I think sachin is best all over becz don bradman also said that sachin is "god of cricket" (from PRANIL JADHAV, Dec 2012)
- Sachin's top score is 248 which isnt that impressive since he has made over 60 tons in test cricket he is a great player but Bradman had an average of 99.94, I actually thing Kallis is a better batsman and he has a higher average to back me up. (from Sachin, Dec 2012)
- No doubt.. sachin is best crickter.. accrding 2 test nd one day.. he shuold be on top in list. But more surprising is SEHWAG, he is even not listed..he is only cricketer in d world who done mirecle 2 tyms in test nd 1 tyms in one day.. also he scored 8000+ run in both formate..as a opner. non of d world best opner batsman did d same as he did. it sucks ... pls we can't ignore his contribution..which he doing ..he completly change the modern cricket..today ppl goes to ground only fir viru paji. - I don't think u can out Kallis from the best player list. He can place his name in any team. His record is amazing. (from RN Sharma, Nov 2012)
- Bradman was clearly the best batsman of his era. Given J. Kallis' current average, whether Tendulkar is the best of his era is debatable. (from Wayne, Nov 2012)
- TEST 1.tendulkar 2.lara 3.dravid 4.ponting 5.kallis

- WHY THERE IS NO UMER AKMAL NAME HE SHOULD BE IN THE LIST I AM HIS GREATERST FAN
- Virendra sehwag is out of list, i can't believe it. Virendra sehwag is one & only player who makes 2 triple hundreds in test & 1 double hundred in ODI. (from mukesh jangir, Nov 2012)
- Mostly Indian players should be on the list. Chris Gayle is good too but Sachin Tendulker is the best cricket player ever! (from Aryan, Oct 2012)
- I think only Indian players from the last 20 years should be on the list. And Sachin should be on twice. It's an outrage. Typical biased Western media. (from polecat, Oct 2012)
- Rahul Dravid is for sure ... He is the one of greatest batsman India ever produced ... He is the batsman of caliber of Sachin or Sunil Gavaskar ... (from Ankush Khot, Oct 2012)
- Rahul dravid for sure (from ahmed yaseen, Oct 2012)
- Virat kholi is the best no one can beat him even Gayle cannot beat him in cricket i am his big fan. I would like to be like him in future (from Sanskar salian, Sept 2012)
- Sachin is the greatest cricketer for ever compare to Bradman. Bradman is only played with England and played only in Australia and England. Sachin has been playing with more than 10 countries and more than 200 grounds. So there is no compare with cricket GOD. (from Sathwick, Sept 2012)
- Sachin is the best batsmen ever seen in international cricket.bradman should be placed outside the list. (from vince, Sept 2012)
- I think sachin has become god of cricket world (from pushparaj singh, Sept 2012)
- 1. Sashin 2. Dravid 3. Lara 4. Ponting 5. Sangkara. And bowlers 1. Murali 2. Washim 3. Warne 4. Makhra 5. Kumble (from Zahangir Alam, Sept 2012)
- RAHUL DRAVID, ONLY MAN TO HAVE THE ABLITY TO BAT FOR LONG DURATIONS (from syam krishna MG, 1 Sept 2012)
- There is no comparison between Sachin and DON as they played in two different eras ... We didnt witness Don's game ... Sachin played in diff situations aroundthe globe carrying millions of fans DREAMS on his shoulders ... i dont think so DON had to carry that pressure through out his career ... Hence no comparison ... when it comes to other positions ... Rahul dravid deserves top 5 ... I also think Jack kallis and Ricky ponting deserves to share 4/5th slot. (from Phani bushan, Aug 2012)
- Sir Don never played in the sub continent ... he is father of cricket. But SACHIN TENDULKAR is GOD OF CRICKET. (from Dharmesh, Aug 2012)
- I think top five in test cricket are respectively bradman, tendulkar, gavaskar, richard, brian lara. and top five in odi are respectively tendulkar, richard, ponting, ganguly, jaysurya. (from brijesh singh, July 2012)
- Wasim Akram, Waqar Younas And Jawaid Miandad is also a lehgendary players why they r not listed??? (from Sharoz Khan, July 2012)
- Obviously sachin is the best cricketer for ever ... sachin is 100% better than bradman ... because ... bradman played only test matches where lbw and runouts(not 100% correct) were not there ... where sachin is playing perfect cricket ... now you only decide who is the best cricketer. (from Hemanth Kumar Achilles, July 2012)
- Rahul dravid is the one and only batsman cricket has ever produced with high quality and respect to the game ... he is the class and temperament.sachin just shadowed his records (from sekar, July 2012)
- RAHUL DRAVID is the all time greatest player,he is the most stylish player and true gentleman of the game. (from AR.Ramiah, July 2012)
- Tendulkar is a god to me and my family, but nothing can really compare with Bradman. I have thought about this many times and all of the excuses I made up about "if he played in more continents" and "if he played in modern conditions" - think about it. The old gloves they wore were like cardboard and helmets were still decades away from being introduced to the game! Those conditions had their own challenges. It's like saying "if Hitler was born in the times of the black plague, world history would be different" (from Karthik, July 2012)
- Sachin is the best. he faces more than 200 bowlers in his carrier. i saw in many matches. always, he loses his wicket to a debutant bowler. but bradman may face only 20 bowlers. he knows the technique of all bowlers. so, he bat well. if bradman comes to face many new bowlers, he cant score like sachin (from Arun, July 2012)
- rahul dravid is undoubtedly the best player in test cricket history, just review the situations in which he batted ... (from sandeep, June 2012)
- Definitely Sachin is great then sir Donald Bradman. thats time cricket are not develop bot persent developed. Sachin are both time good and highest record man. also technique is better then Bradman. (from Gautam rathore asotra, June 2012)
- I think Wasim Akram shoud also in this list. (from Aamir Raza, June 2012)
- Sachin tendulkar is the best cricketer in the world ever seen he is the real superstar no comparison any other (from Rahul khan, June 2012)
- If the comparison ground is CRICKET (cricket is a 5 day game), then there is no match for Bradman as a BATSMAN. Sachin is and will always be SECOND to him (though i literally worship him). But still these two are just greatest Batsmen of all time, Stop using the term "greatest cricketers", The greatest cricketer without a shade of doubt is "Sir Garfield Sobers" (from Devesh Pathak, June 2012)
- Sachin is better than Bradman because unlike Bradman he is given out on wrong decisions on many occasions (from manthan sharma, May 2012)
- rahul dravid is the best batsman. its not just about runs and averages its the quality of cricket and more importantly QUALITY OF A MAN. and this is where he scores above them all. Greatest role model for children and nicest man to play cricket (from shivanshu, May 2012)
- Sachin i think is d best, because after being scrutinized for so many days he continues to perform and it's his passion and dedication for d game that makes him miles apart from others. (from Arjun Shankar Dasgupta, May 2012)
- I think Sachin is best ever cricketer and batsman because in cricket it is important to maintain fitness and form he maintained his career 23years and played all formates .don have not faced more world class bowler but Sachin faced murali, warne, akram, megra and also he played so many matches openent as england so he have to adjust for maximum of 10 bowlers but sachin facing more than 100 bowlers.now technology has improved every country used to work on stratageas to get rid of sachins batting.now umpiring system has improved not like earlier.don played only 54 matches in 20 years of his period. (from punith b l, May 2012)
- I think Muralitharan is the world's best cricketer ... Sachin and Don only gives 4ers and 6ers to the balls but Murali gives 4er and 6ers to these bats men. Murali toh bats man ki chakkay uda te hai. (from Samrat, April 2012)
- Sachin tendulkar is the greatest batsman of all time. (from siddharth chandra, April 2012)
- Don is Don for ever don't even compare with a mediocre sachin tendulkar who plays for his own records not for his own country in this modern era (from chandran, April 2012)
- I think sachin is the best bt i dnt think that bradman is better than sachin. Bcs sachin played all format of the game in last 23 yrs. Bt don has played just a test cricket. Sachin played 188 test in 23 yrs bt don has played just 50 test in 20yrs. That is 2 to 3 test per year don played cricket while sachin 8 test per year ... And again one day format. It is easy to maintain the avg of hundred playing 2 to 3 test per yrs. (from Manish, April 2012)
- Sachin is the most over rated cricketer ever. no one will ever come close to Bradman. Never wore a helmet. pitches were uncovered. No one else could come close to him in his era or since. he was sports first celebrity. He changed the game forever. Not only is he the best cricketer but the best sportsman ever to play any sport. Technically and mentally. Bradman is a legend
- There is no compare with Sachin & Don. Don only played test cricket but sachine played test, onday & T-20. there are 3 different stregthy in all 3 formate & mind set also different. Sachin is No. 1 in all formate thats all of you know better. Don played only test & his mind set for test cricket. in my view Sachine is best cricket ever played cricket. (from Banti Rai, March 2012)
- If Bradman was able to play as many innings as Sachin, going by his rate of scoring, he would have amassed 27,484 runs in total. Compare that to Sachin's 15,409 at the same point (275 innings). Shame Bradman lost a batsman's best years (31-36 years old) to World War 2, otherwise who knows what his average would have been. All hail the stump and golf ball! (from Captain Grumpy, Jan 2012)
- Can all you Sachin worshippers at least change your name to try to convince us you are not biased? Come on, surely it wasn't that hard. These Sachin groupies are too funny ... There really is no comparison to The Don. Everyone knows it deep down. (from Al, Jan 2012)
- This is all nonsense about arguing who's the best. they played in different era and cannot be comparable based on their statistics. (from shahryar khan, Jan 2012)
- Lists like these always encourage debates that go round and round in circles with nothing being accomplished, just like a dog chasing his tail. Bradman v. Tendulkar Without doubt the two greatest batsmen ever, but to ask who was the best of the two is like asking how long is a piece of string. They are from two different eras so realistic comparisons can't be made. Some folks here have said Bradman never faced the best bowlers. I would like to raise the name Harold Larwood and the term 'Bodyline'. No helmets, soft gloves, soft pads. Think about that. Sachin has played the majority of his matches on the sub-continent where the wickets are very batsman friendly. If Bradman had played there he would have made many centuries. (from Boonie, Jan 2012)
- I think don must b no. 1 and after him rahul dravid no.come.. (from sandip khanduri, Jan 2012)
- Sachin is ultimate and cannot be compared to any one (from shahjad, Oct 2011)
- Once compare Sachin's technique with Bradman. And Bradman has not faced the best bowling attack like Sachin. The best bowlers only came in mid 1960s. I think Lara should also be in list. Bradman played 52 tests in 20 years but these days players have to play all the year, Tests, ODIs and T20s. It is a big deal than playing 2 tests per year and expanding their first class records. Has Bradman ever faced best bowlers like Ambrose, Marshall, Mc Grath, Holding or quality spin like Shane warne, Muthaiah Muralitharan and Kumble. No technique and game wasn't developed then. But now game is developed. I challenge Bradman cant maintain even 60 average if he plays now. (from Reddy, Oct 2011)
- Miandad was very good player. stupid to say Bradman never played in subcontinent because it is a batsman's paradise (he scored triple centuries on bowler's wickets in England). I like curry for breakfast lunch and tea (from big bloody don, Sept 2011)
- Javeed Miandad is technically sound and better then Sachin, Viv and Bradman. He is the man of crises. He was always playing in crises and under presure, but Viv and sachin never play in presure. Miandad was the match winer. Pakistan was not playing too much oneday or test cricket otherwise if Pakistan was playing good number of oneday and test cricket then you can see Minandad would have more runs and centuries then any other. (from Mohammad Ahmad Siddiqui, July 2011)
- I think wasim akram is best fast bowler in ever world. so his number is also 2. (from danish, May 2011)
- I think Sachin is the best batsman ever. He has played all round the world and scored tons of run everywhere. Bowlers were better than sir donald era (from anurag jha, May 2011).
- I think you people think Sachin is the best because you've never seen Bradman play. Sachin is incredible, i admit, but Bradman had an average of nearly 100, which nobody would ever accomplish (from Nirav, April 2011).
- How recently was this released? I thought for sure Brian Lara would have been on the batsman list; especially if tallying the "and the player's contribution to this result" part. He was (arguably of course) like the Michael Jordan of cricket when it came to clutch performances. The 153* against Australia in Bridgetown comes to mind amongst many other clutch performances as the West Indies middle order tended to collapse around him. Not to mention the ability to amass the most number of runs in a test innings as a batsman in any form of first class cricket ... multiple times? I'm not saying that the list, based on whatever ranking system and time frame measured is incorrect, I'm just saying I'm surprised he's not top 5. (from Billy, Apr 2011).
- Ya this is absolutely wrong bcoz bradman played all his test matches against England but sachin is playing with all test teams so he should be at No. 1 (from gurjent singh, April 2011).
- Sir Don never played in the sub continent, therefore sachin is the greatest ever cricketer of all time. (from Rakesh, Aril 2011)
- I fully agree with Madhav. Sachin is the best ever batsman. It is a pleasure to watch him play. (from Sam Wilson, Mar 2011)
- I am not being patriotic but I think that Sachin Tendulker is the best test bastmen ever (from Madhav Mani, Oct 2010).
