Here are the top 10 of the Sports Illustrated Magazine's fortunate 50 list for the year 2012. This is the 9th year that the list has been published. As with all Fortunate 50 lists, it only includes athletes only from the USA, sorted by total earnings (salary, winnings, endorsements and appearance fees).
Tiger Wood's run of being on top of every SI Fortunate 50 list since it was first published in 2004 has ended. Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. has jumped to the top of the list, having not even made the top 50 list last year, thanks to two well paid fights. Second was Phil Mickelson, as he was the last couple of years. There were no females in the top 50.
