Ballon d'Or Winners by Club

Which club has produced the highest number of winners of the men's Ballon d'Or? The leading clubs on this list are European powerhouses Barcelona and Real Madrid.

However, determining which clubs have produced the most Ballon d'Or winners is not straightforward. When we say "produced," we refer to the club that the winner was playing for at the time they won the award, rather than the club where they developed through the youth system, which may have played a greater role in their overall development. Additionally, some players have changed teams multiple times throughout their careers, even within the same year they received the award.

With Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo winning a total of 13 Ballon d'Or awards throughout their careers and spending many of their peak years playing in Spain, it is not surprising that the two Spanish clubs are at the top of the list.

English club Blackpool is the most curious entry on the full list, as club legend Stanley Matthews won the inaugural award in 1956. Because Messi was an Inter Miami player when the 2023 award was announced, it marked the first-ever Ballon d'Or win for a Major League Soccer (MLS) club. English Premier League team Manchester City joined the list in 2024 when Rodri secured the prize.
