Alpine Skiing World Championships
The first world championships in alpine skiing were held in 1931. Initially there was an event every year, but now it is held every two years.

History
Here is a list of Alpine World Ski Championships, as designated by the International Ski Federation. In 1941 due to lack of competitors the event it was not designated as a World Championships. Between 1948 and 1980 the Winter Olympics events were also designated as the World Championships.

Trivia
- A lack of snow in southern Spain in 1995 caused a postponement of the World Championships to the next year.
- The World Championships have been held only once in the Southern Hemisphere, in Portillo, Chile in 1966.
- The 1950 World Championships in Aspen were the first held outside of Europe.
