2013 Tour de France
The 2013 Tour de France, a historic 100th edition of the prestigious race, featured 21 stages and covered a total distance of approximately 3,404 kilometers (2,115 miles). The race began on the island of Corsica, marking the first time the Tour started on the Mediterranean island, and concluded traditionally in Paris, with the final stage finishing on the Champs-Élysées.
2013 Tour de France Stage 11 , Avranches to Mont-St-Michel, Time Trial British cyclist Chris Froome of Team Sky emerged as the overall winner, securing his first Tour victory. Froome took the yellow jersey in Stage 8, a mountain stage to Ax 3 Domaines, and consistently extended his lead with strong performances in the subsequent mountain stages and time trials. His dominance was particularly evident in the double ascent of Alpe d'Huez during Stage 18 and the individual time trial in Stage 17.
Froome finished the race with a lead of over four minutes ahead of Colombian Nairo Quintana, who finished second, and Spanish rider Joaquim Rodríguez, who took third place.
Additionally, the double ascent of Alpe d'Huez was a rare and particularly grueling challenge that added to the excitement and difficulty of the race.
The 2013 Tour also saw impressive performances from young riders, with Nairo Quintana winning both the white jersey for the best young rider and the polka dot jersey for the King of the Mountains. Peter Sagan continued his dominance in the points classification, securing the green jersey for the second consecutive year.
