- (Comment from Wayne Sayers, Jan 2024) I have been trying to locate a television interveiw done with Harry Kewell before Australian Wallabies 1999 rugby union world cup games. In the interveiw Harry was asked if he had always played soccor or if he had ever played rugby union or league in his early years. He was then asked how he thought he'd go at place kicking a rugby ball. The ball was placed on the intersection of the side line & the half way line (rugby oval) He then took two steps back & with a right foot behind the left foot reverse kick, he kicked the rugby ball over the black dot of the rugby post.i know that Harry doesn't play rugby union but the interveiw was done by an australian sports jurno whom was covering the 1999 rugby world cup being contested in the UK. If you can help me locate the above mentioned interveiw in any way i would greatly appreciate your help. Ps; Harry Kewell had just signed a 30 million dollar contract & although i am not a soccor fan, after seeing that interveiw & his seemlesly effortless reverse kick over the black dot of the rugby post, i had to aknowlage the man was obviously a 30 million dollar talent. Thank you, Wayne Sayers, a rugby union & league fan.
