Sierra Leone at the Commonwealth Games

Sierra Leone is bordered by Guinea, Liberia and the Atlantic ocean in Western Africa. Sierra Leone is Portuguese for 'Lion Mountain'.

The Republic of Sierra Leone joined the Commonwealth in 1961.

Sierra Leone made its debut in the Games in 1958 and took part again in 1966, 1970 and 1978 before returning in 1990 in Auckland from where they have taken part ever since.

Sierra Leone is the country with the most appearances at the Commonwealth Games without winning a medal.
