Nauru is a small oval shaped western Pacific island, which covers no more than 22 sq kms.

Nauru at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

Nauru finished in a tie for thirty-third at Glasgow 2026, the first Commonwealth Games staged with a reduced program of 10 sports. Nauru won 2 bronze medals, level on the medal table with Lesotho.

Both medals came on the weightlifting platform, the island's traditional Commonwealth Games strength. Ezekiel Moses took bronze in the men's 71kg category, with Nauru adding a second bronze in the weightlifting competition. The final medal standings, with Nauru's placing, are shown below.

Trivia

  • Nauru has been a member of the Commonwealth since 1968.
  • Nauru began its Commonwealth Games campaign at the 1990 Games held in Auckland, winning 1 gold and 2 silver medals in the weightlifting. More weightlifting medals followed again in successive Games, partly due to the elite weightlifting center in Nauru which came into being in 1994. Manchester in 2002 saw Nauru pick up 15 medals in weightlifting, a truly remarkable feat for such a small country.
