Nigeria's national football team is nicknamed the Super Eagles. Their best result in the World Cup was reaching the second round in 1994 and 1998. Nigeria qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, but finished bottom of their pool and therefore knocked out in the first round. After their poor performance, Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan banned the team from international competitions for two years, in a bid to sort out the team.
