The Dingle Marathon is Ireland's toughest race. This ultra marathon is conducted over 50 miles, taking in a breathtaking, beautiful coastal route. The run passes much beautiful scenery, idyllic villages and historical sites. There is also a half and full marathon event.
The ultra marathon start is held in Glentenassig Woods, a spectacular setting located on the opposite side of the mountains to Dingle. When the runners reach Dingle, the course joins that for the half and full marathon. The runners head off from Dingle in the direction of Ventry to Slea head. The half marathon finishes near Dunquin.
It is a challenging half marathon with a lot of hills and twists and turns, with breathtaking scenery and magnificent views of the Blasket islands. Other runners continue through the beautiful village of Ballyferiter, then some very special views of Murreagh. Then there are some extremely tough hills before finishing with a long straight home run.
