Uganda at the Winter Olympics

Uganda has never appeared at the Winter Olympic Games. It looked like this was set to change in 2018, however their great hope to be the first snowboarder to represent any African country in the Olympics had to withdraw due to illness.

24-year-old snowboarder Brolin Mawejje in the months before the 2018 Winter Olympics was diagnosed with a potentially deadly heart condition called arrhythmia. Mawejje was just 15 points away from opening an Olympic quota spot for his home country of Uganda. In 2022, he is again vying for a coveted spot at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
