Super Bowl 1989

The 1989 Super Bowl, officially known as Super Bowl XXIII, was played on January 22, 1989 at Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami, Florida. This game saw the San Francisco 49ers defeat the Cincinnati Bengals by a score of 20-16.

The 49ers came from behind in the second half, with quarterback Joe Montana leading the way and throwing for 357 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Jerry Rice caught 11 passes for a Super Bowl record 215 yards and a touchdown, was named the Super Bowl MVP. San Francisco's defense was also strong, holding the Bengals to just 16 points and forcing two turnovers. This was the third Super Bowl win for the San Francisco 49ers.
