Jerry Rice : American Football

Jerry Lee Rice (born: October 13, 1962) is a former American football receiver for the San Francisco 49ers and is widely considered the greatest ever to play his position. He attended the Mississippi Valley State where he earned All-American honors and set 18 Division I-AA records. He was drafted by the 49ers the first round in 1985. It was the start of a 20-year career where Rice won multiple Super Bowls and set 38 NFL records. Jerry Rice was inducted in to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.

He is known to be the all-time leader when it comes to the major statistical categories for wide receivers that include receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Besides winning three Super Bowl Rings, an AFC Championship, he is rated #1 Greatest Player of All-Time on The Top-100: NFL’s Greatest Players.

Why Was He So Good?

Jerry Rice is remembered as one of the best clutch players in football history. He was a crucial part of the 49ers victory in Super Bowl XXIII. He made game-winning catches during his entire football career. He is also remembered for being dedicated to the game and for his work ethics. His coach Dennis Green called him “The best route runner I’ve ever seen”.
