Sports of the European Games

Of these 20 sports, 16 are Olympic sports, two are Olympic sports contested in non-Olympic formats (basketball and football) and the are two non-Olympic sports (karate and sambo).

In 2015, all listed sports except two were for athletes at the elite level - the aquatic sports were only open to junior-level competitors, and the athletics competition formed the third division of the European Team Championships.

List of Sports

  1. Aquatics (including Diving, Swimming, Synchronised swimming and Water polo)
  2. Archery
  3. Athletics - in 2015, the two-day Athletics competition was a team competition, forming the third division of the European Team Championships. In 2019, a new athletics format, called Dynamic New Athletics, will debut at the European Games. The event is a mixed-team, two-hour model of athletics.
  4. Badminton
  5. Basketball (3x3) - both the men's and women's tournaments took place in the half-court 3x3 format. Each team consists of 4 athletes, of whom three can appear on court at any one time. The game is played on a half-court, with one basket.
  6. Beach Football (Soccer) - played in the sand on a smaller field than regular football.
  7. Boxing
  8. Canoe sprint
  9. Cycling (including BMX, Mountain biking, Road)
  10. Fencing
  11. Gymnastics (including Acrobatic, Aerobic, Artistic, Rhythmic, Trampoline) - Events include all of the existing Olympic program, plus additional events in rhythmic and trampolining disciplines. Also two non-Olympic disciplines, aerobic gymnastics and acrobatic gymnastics are included.
  12. Judo (including Para-Judo)
  13. Karate
  14. Sambo
  15. Shooting
  16. Table tennis
  17. Taekwondo
  18. Triathlon
  19. Volleyball (including Beach and Indoor)
  20. Wrestling (including Freestyle and Greco-Roman)
