Ski Ballet (1988, 1992)
Ski ballet (now known as "acroski") was demonstrated at two different Olympics, in 1988 in Calgary and then again in 1992 in Albertville. Ski ballet is a choreographed event, where athletes on skis perform various choreographed routines on a smooth slope. The skiers are judged, as in figure skating, on a combination of technical and artistic considerations.
The sport is not expected to gain a place on the Winter Olympics program, as is no longer officially a part of freestyle skiing. The International Ski Federation ceased all formal competition of the sport in 2000.
