Basketball is a fast, non-contact indoor team sport. It is a popular sport within the Commonwealth. Basketball was on the sports program for 2006, and again on the program for 2018.

In 2022, 3x3 basketball replaced the regular 5-a-side full-court basketball on the program. A 3x3 Wheelchair basketball event was also added. Both 3x3 basketball and 3x3 wheelchair basketball remained on the program for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

2026 Basketball Results

At Glasgow 2026, the 3x3 basketball and 3x3 wheelchair basketball tournaments were held at the SEC Centre in Glasgow, with four medal events in total. England and Australia shared the honours, each winning two gold medals across the four events. The medalists for each event are shown below.

In the finals, England’s men defended their title with a 19-17 win over Australia, while Australia’s women beat Uganda 21-11. In the wheelchair events, Australia’s men defeated England 19-13, and England’s women beat host nation Scotland 18-10.
