Grenada joined the Commonwealth in 1974 and is the most southerly of the Windwards in the Eastern Caribbean. Its caribbean neighbors include St Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago.

Grenada at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

Grenada finished in a tie for twenty-third at Glasgow 2026, the first Commonwealth Games staged with a reduced program of 10 sports. Grenada won 1 gold for a single medal, a fitting result for a nation with a proud sprinting pedigree.

The gold came from Grenada's greatest athlete, Olympic champion Kirani James, who won the men's 400m in a Games record time. The final medal standings, with Grenada's placing, are shown below.

Trivia

  • The island attended all three Games in the 1970's including their debut in 1970, then returned to participate in 1998 in Kuala Lumpur.
  • Long a small nation searching for the podium, Grenada found its champion in Kirani James, the London 2012 Olympic 400m gold medallist, who has since delivered Commonwealth 400m gold for the island.
