Babe Ruth: Baseball

George Herman "Babe" Ruth, Jr. (1895 – 1948) was a baseball player from the USA who played 22 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1914 to 1935 and was famous for hitting home runs. He led the league in home runs during a season twelve times.

Greatest Sporting Achievements

He set a record for home runs (714) and slugging percentage (.690). The slugging percentage record still stands today.

Why Were They So Good?

Babe Ruth is considered by many to be the greatest baseball player of all time, his hitting power was legendary, resulting in numerous records, some of which still stand today.

What You May Not Know

His nicknames included "The Bambino" and "The Sultan of Swat". He was well known as a slugger playing for the new York Yankies, but he began his career as a left-handed pitcher for the Boston Red Sox.
