Underwater Weighing Technique

December 30th, 2009 · No Comments · Anthropometry

Ryan performing underwater weighing (hydro-static weighing) to determine body density and subsequently percentage body fat. See how he blows all the air out of his lungs. This is a necessary step as it can affect his buoyancy and therefore the weight measured in the water.

Demonstration of Skinfold Sites

December 30th, 2009 · No Comments · Anthropometry

This is a clear demonstration of the skinfold measurement sites: biceps, pectoralis, iliac crest, abdominal, triceps and subscapular. The assessor is using a Slim Guide Skinfold Caliper which provide good accurate measurements of skinfolds. It is best to mark all measurement sites prior to testing, though experienced examiners like the one here here can go by feel and perform the measurements more quickly.
