The new sport called Bull Seal was created by Eric Witt from the USA in the early 1990s. Bull Seal is a safe and yet very fun and energetic game that is played in a pool of water for people of all ages with a great deal of emphasis on team building and strategy.
Equipment Required: Just a pool, a ball that is not fragile and a pool of water.
Description
The depth of the water should be between 50 cm and 1.50 meters deep.
The game can be played one on one or with two teams comprising of 2 to 6 players each.
Start of the game
Each team starts on opposite sides of the pool. In a pool where the depth is within the accepted limits all over, it will of course be lengthwise. In a pool where the depth is within the accepted limits only on one end (usually the shallow end), then it will be played sidewise.
Each player must be touching the top of the wall on their end.
At the very start of the game, the referee throws the ball in the middle saying « BULL SEAL ». Once the ball leaves the referee's hands, the players may rush to get the ball.
Scoring
A team scores one point in BULL SEAL simply by placing the ball on the top of the wall of the opposite side while touching the ball itself at the same time. If no part of the body of the person is touching the ball when it first touches the top of the wall, there is no point.
After a point is scored, each team starts again on it's respective side. The team which did not score the point has the ball.
Starting after a point is scored or after the ball goes out of bounds without any player touching it (if it is determined who touched the ball last).
After a point is scored or after the ball goes out of bounds without any player touching it, each team goes on it's respective side and touches the top of the wall of the pool with at least part of their foot or hand just like in the beginning of the game.
End of the game
A team wins when it is at least two points ahead when it scores the required number of points which is agreed upon before the start of the game. This can be 5, 10 or 15 points. In that regard there is no time limit.
If that team is only one point ahead when it scores the point in question, the game continues until one team is two points ahead and therefore wins.
The team with the ball then says « 1, 2, 3, BULL SEAL ». Only after the member of this team holding the ball says « BULL SEAL » may the other players rush towards the other side.
