Teqball

Teqball is a new sport that combines Association Football and Table Tennis. The sport was invented in 2014 in Hungary by two football enthusiasts, Gábor Borsányi and Viktor Huszár. It is best described as table tennis with a soccer ball, and using the body instead of a racket.



Teqball is played on a table which resembles a curved table tennis table, the ball used is a size 5 association football ball. Teqball can be played by two players (singles game), by three players (Canadian doubles), by four players (doubles).

The ball can be hit by any part of the body except the hands, though it is forbidden to touch the ball with the same body part twice consecutively and a maximum of three touches is allowed before the ball is returned. In doubles, there is still a three touch maximum, and each player must have at least one touch. Rallies arerepeated int he case of an edge ball. Like in table tennis, and a match consists of best-of-three sets, with a set played until a player or team reaches 20 points.

Teqball is represented at an international level by the Fédération Internationale de Teqball (FITEQ). The Teqball World Cup is an annual competition organised by FITEQ. The first World Cup was held in 2017.

As well as teqball, the sports of teqvolley, teqpong, teqis and quatch can also be played on the teqball table.
