2015 World Swimming Championships: Kazan, Russia

The Russian city of Kazan was awarded the 2015 World Swimming Championships in 2011. It will be the 16th FINA World Championships. Kazan an ancient city near the Volga River about 800 km (500 miles) east of Moscow, and is known as Russia’s sports city.

The event will be held from Jul 24 to Aug 9. It will be the first time that the World Aquatics Championships have been held in the Soviet Union or Russia.

The 2025 World Aquatic Championships were planned to be in Kazan, but was moved to Singapore following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Kazan hope to be awarded the 2029 event.
